New and Interesting Jaxon-isms

Jaxon has finally started talking in 3-word sentences although we are still treated to the indecipherable babble and "Jawa" sounds on occasion. He also LOVES to use his hands when speaking to you, the dogs, or anyone that will listen to him. This he gets from Zak.

Recently, we have been hearing, "Sure, okay!" a lot. We love hearing that rather than the defiant, "No!". Also, he loves to ask for "Mooore" and "Eat!". His "Sure" and "Mooore" come out like he's a kid growing up in Brooklyn. For someone who has never visited or lived on the east coast, he certainly knows how to talk like one.

Jaxon also sometimes mixes up his words and most recently has resorted to calling hummus, "Thomas". I realize that to a 2-year old, they sound very similar. However, I don't think he realizes how different they are. One is a garbanzo bean dip and the other is a train. So, I happily go along with him when he asks to dip his cracker into more "Thomas". He's slowly learning to decipher his colors (for now, whenever you ask him what color something is the answer is always "Purple".) He knows shapes quite well and could be a regular animal keeper at the zoo he identifies animals so well. He can also tell you exactly what sound they make.

He constantly asks if we are "Home?" when we clearly are and always wants to know what Daddy is doing and if he is hungry or sleepy. Daddy has become his all-time favorite person in the world and is most definitely his hero. Mommy comes in a close second but since she is the one he sees all day and is often the bad-guy disciplinarian, I'm not as cool as Daddy.

We've seen so much change in him in the past year. It is hard to imagine that he wasn't speaking at all last July. However, the whining, pestering, and outcries of defiance have been on the rise as he is fully into his 2's and well on the way to being 3. We're looking forward to watching him begin the role as "Big Brother" in two months.

Visiting Mr. Jelly Belly
Over Mother's Day weekend, we made a trip up to Sacramento to visit my family. One of the days we visited the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield, CA. My Dad went with Jaxon and I and we all had a good time viewing the Jelly Belly making process and eating lots of candy. Thanks for my girlfriend, Christine for hooking us up on a VIP tour while we were there!

Since this is a food-making facility, they require all people on their tour to wear these goofy paper hats. Jaxon wasn't too sure about his at first and by the end of the tour ended up chewing out the middle of the hat and turning it into a necklace. As you can see, he had a good time. In case you are wondering, that is Arnold's likeness captured in a Jelly Belly mosaic!

Jaxon's New Playground

This spring Zak and I decided to shuck out the bucks and redo the war zone that was our backyard. Since we have two dogs and a so-so gardener, the place was a disaster and not somewhere we wanted Jaxon hanging out and running around. So, it was decided to rip out the existing lawn and replace it with new lawn and....drumroll, a new play structure for Kiddo and little brother, Logan. After a few weeks of contractors and plenty of sweat and tears contributed by Zak and our friend, Mark. Jaxon had his own little paradise to play in. Here are some pictures of him playing just after its completion. Note: the slide behind Jaxon was the last thing to go up so he really does have a functioning slide now which he LOVES to push his Hot Wheels cars down.

Hanging With Mr. Cool

Just recently, Jaxon has decided that it is okay to wear a hat again and better yet, why not throw in a pair of sunglasses too? These sunglasses were purchased for him when he was 3 months old and much too small to wear them. Luckily, he's grown and so has his like for sunglasses. Today he put them on and proceeded to fall asleep on the ride home. These were taken after we got home. Just for fun, I've included a picture of him wearing the same glasses when he was 3 months. My how the time has flown!!
